The is sponsoring an evening program to raise public awareness of local pet over-population, to encourage adoption from shelters and/or rescue programs and to bring in donations of pet food, litter and toys to be used at the city's facility and the county's facility and for low-income families who may otherwise have to give up their animals.
Activities will include a story-telling circle to celebrate pets who have found homes straight from the street or via shelter/rescue programs. There will also be a memory circle to commemorate pets or foster animals who are no longer with us. The candle lighting will begin at 8 p.m. to coincide with the expected sunset that evening.
Bring photos of your pets that can be posted in a display. (The photos will be returned to you.) Well-mannered dogs accompanied by their human are more than welcome to attend the celebration.
