Kids Can Dabble in Lacrosse This Weekend

As part of a recent push to attract kids to play lacrosse, the Prince George’s Lacrosse Club is holding a free clinic at the University of Maryland this weekend.

If your kids are attending the clinic this weekend, take pictures and upload them to Patch. Show off your kids in action!

Players will be broken in to groups based on age and experience and will work with the university’s lacrosse teams.

Patch in June that Eleanor Roosevelt High School was the only public school to offer the sport, and it’s on the club level. The county’s lacrosse club wants to see that changed. 

“It’s so much fun to play,” Stacey Morrison, co-commissioner of the organization, . “As soon as those kids get their sticks and the helmets on … they’re hooked.”

The clinic takes place at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the University of Maryland Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex near the Comcast Center. Kids are encouraged to wear sneakers, bring a water bottle and lacrosse gear, if they have it.

The is sponsored by the University of Maryland lacrosse teams, U.S. Lacrosse, Lewisdale-University Park Boys and Girls Club and the Prince George’s County Lacrosse Club.
