MEETING NOTES: Council Approves Grant Request for Sidewalk Upgrades

- The filing of a block grant request to the county for $90,000 to reconstruct curbs, gutters and sidewalks in the Old Town, Lakeland and Berwyn neighborhoods.
- The procurement and use of a new two-way radio system that complies with new federal regulations. The cost is not to exceed $90,000 and the funds have already been designated in the approved 2012 budget.
- A letter in support of a Maryland State Senate bill that limits the financial information that local jurisdictions would have to disclose. According to the letter, “The bill does not seek to dilute the financial disclosure requirements for local officials; instead it ensures the relevancy of the information reported on financial disclosure forms.”
- A switch in city employee health insurance coverage, from CareFirst to Maryland Local Government Health Cooperative.
- The awarding of contracts for city employee’s dental insurance, workers compensation insurance, and city liability insurances.
