MEETING PREVIEW: Farmers' Market, Polling Hours, State Leg and More

Recycling
The city’s Committee for a Better Environment (CBE) suggests that the city takes steps to increase recycling among residents and businesses. This would not only conserve energy and natural resources, but save the city money, CBE argues. CBE will suggest specific strategies, as well as pinpoint entities in College Park that could boost their participation in the recycling program.

Green Team
College Park is in search of a Green Team. The city is participating in the Sustainable Maryland Certified municipal certification program, a point system measuring sustainability. The next step is to appoint a team of individuals who help to develop policies and plans, implement programs, and assist with educational opportunities that support the creation of a sustainable community.
Farmers' Markets
Council will receive an update on the two College Park farmers' markets, expected to open this spring with no major changes from last year. Staff will also present summaries about the farmers' markets that occur in surrounding communities: Greenbelt, Riverdale Park and Takoma Park.
Polling Hours
In November, council suggested the exploration of . Staff will discuss the changes to the charter and city code that this would require, as well as other Election Day issues.
Legislation Review
