MEETING PREVIEW: Greenbelt Metro Redevelopment, City Website and More

Greenbelt Metro Station

Council will learn more from developers about the status of the Greenbelt Metro redevelopment. Garth Beall of Renard Development Company, LLC, (formerly Metroland Developers) and representatives from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority will provide an update on the status of the WMATA Joint Development Agreement and efforts to pursue the proposed consolidated headquarters of the FBI. Sun Trust Bank, the current owner of the south core of the Greenbelt Station project, wants to sever the current development agreement with the city, which includes both the north and south cores, and enter into a new agreement that addresses the south core only.

Field Use

The College Park Boys and Girls Club has submitted requests to the recreation board to use and Calvert Hills Field for spring and summer athletic events. Staff is recommending approval.

Neighborhood Watch Committee

Council will discuss a resolution to dissolve the city council neighborhood watch subcommittee, the neighborhood watch committee, and the citywide College Park neighborhood watch coordinator position, and form a new College Park neighborhood watch steering committee.

ATHA

An update for the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area is also on the agenda. The City of College Park is one of 13 communities making up ATHA, which promotes heritage and cultural tourism, as well as recreation sites, in northern Prince George’s County, according to the city’s website.

Website Redesign and More

The City of College Park received 17 proposals in response to a Request For Proposals (RFP) issued in December 2011 for a website redesign. Staff narrowed the pool to Revize Software Systems ("Revize") to update the city's website. Staff will recommend that council provide informal consent to go forward with a contract agreement, and provide guidance on the website design.

Staff will provide an update on the city’s legislative priority issues, bills for which the city council submitted testimony and potential bills of interest.

Council will also discuss appointments to boards and committees and the annexation of the Sunnyside skate park.
