Missing University of Maryland Professor's Body Found In Lake

Police confirmed that the body found in Lake Artemesia was Stan Fromovitz, a retired professor who was missing since March 8.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — A retired 80-year-old University of Maryland professor who was reported missing in early March was found dead in a College Park lake by students participating in a community service event Saturday, NBC Washington reports.

Stan Fromovitz was last seen in the 6100 block of Westchester Park Drive on March 8, police said. His body was found in Lake Artemesia at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

"We didn't know if it was real, because it was April Fools' Day," Sophia Giavotto, a UMd. student, told News4.

Police said no foul play is suspected, and the manner of death has not been made available at this time.
