PG County Police Cruiser Strikes, Kills Pedestrian: Police
The pedestrian was walking near the intersection of University Boulevard and Riggs Road early Sunday morning, police said.

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a police cruiser on University Boulevard near the University of Maryland campus, resulting in a police investigation.
The man was hit at the intersection of University Boulevard and Riggs Road in the Langley Park neighborhood at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, according to the Prince George's County Police Department's official Twitter account.
The officer was headed westbound on University Boulevard approaching Riggs Road when he struck the pedestrian, resulting in the shutdown of the westbound lanes between Riggs and 23rd Avenue.

Police are currently working to identify the pedestrian and notify his family, according to a statement posted on the Prince George's County Police Department's blog.
"The preliminary investigation reveals two other vehicles nearly struck the pedestrian prior to the officer striking him," the statement reads. "Preliminary, the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time. Investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision."
