Silver Spring Man Dies in Beltway Crash

A crash on the Beltway in College Park killed a man early Wednesday, authorities say.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring man died Wednesday morning following a crash on the inner loop of the Beltway near the New Hampshire Avenue exit in College Park, according to Maryland State Police.

Shortly before 5 a.m., trooper were called to a two-vehicle crash on the inner loop of I-495 prior to I-95 in College Park. A Ford van had overturned on the left shoulder, while a Toyota Rav 4 was disabled and on the right shoulder.

The driver and sole occupant of the van was identified as Miguel Saba, 60, of Silver Spring. Saba was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not identified the driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, who was also from Silver Spring; the driver was not injured. There was no indication the driver was impaired, police said.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the fatal collision. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
