COLLEGE PARK, MARYLAND – Seven fearless thinkers from across the University of Maryland’s campus are coming together to share their innovative thinking, and what they think it means to be fearless. This event will be held on March 31st in The Riggs Alumni Center from 6-8 pm.
This second annual event has been expanded to include an eclectic mix of speakers varying in educational status and majors. The theme for this event is “fearless thinking” and all of the speakers will touch on what this means to them.
The Managing Director of the Oral Communication Program, Elizabeth Gardner, said: “I think that it is very important to bring together a variety of students to share what it is that makes them fearless. Our speaker’s stories are inspiring, and we hope that this will encourage the rest of the student body to come support their peers and hopefully gain inspiration.”

The purpose of this event is to inspire the students at UMD and following the showcase there will be a time for an open panel discussion, followed by a light reception. Jake Shaprio who was inspired by the ideals behind “Ted Talks”, and wanted to provide a way for current students to develop their presentation skills created this event. He is hoping that with the increase in marketing and expansion he will be able to reach more of the student body.
You can follow this event on social media by searching “Terp Talks” on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to gain insight on the speakers and topics that will be covered during this event. Feel free to share your story and what makes you fearless by submitting a post.
