$1.7M Sidewalk Project Prompts Closure Of Southbound US 1 Right Lane In Jessup

A $1.7M sidewalk project in Jessup has caused crews to shut down the right lane of southbound US 1. It will be closed through summer.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The right lane of southbound US 1 (Washington Boulevard) between Cedar Avenue and Crestmount Road closed Monday, April 17, to accommodate for a sidewalk installation project in Jessup.

Crews are installing a new sidewalk on a 900-foot section along southbound US 1. The project includes work on a 360-foot long retaining wall and partial reconstruction of the existing bridge over Dorsey Run. There will also be minor drainage improvements to this area.

The temporary lane closure allows crews to work on the $1.7 million project that improves pedestrian access. The lane will reopen once the project is complete this summer.
