100 Trike, Tiny Bike Donations Needed For HoCo Preschoolers
Approximately 170 preschoolers in Howard County are on a waiting list for trikes and tiny bikes. Donations will be accepted through Nov. 1.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The community has been receptive to donating gently used bicycles for experienced riders as part of Free Bikes 4 Kidz Maryland, but organizers say trikes and tiny bikes are now in big demand. All bicycles collected will be refurbished by volunteers and then given to kids in need in December.
So far, Free Bikes 4 Kidz has almost a dozen independent affiliates and distributed more than 70,000 bicycles since 2008. Mary Catherine Cochran with Free Bikes 4 Kidz told Patch that there are 170 preschoolers on a waiting list for tricycles and tiny bikes.
"We only have about 30. We don't want to disappoint any little kiddos whose names have been submitted," Cochran said. "Our goal is to get 100 little bikes and trikes."
