HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A new veterinary emergency hospital has arrived in Howard County.

Veterinary Emergency Group has opened its doors at 6630A Marie Curie Dr. in Elkridge. It's the first VEG hospital to place down roots in the state of Maryland and offers care for all pets, including exotics, birds and fish, that can fit through their doors, Dr. David Bessler, VEG founder and CEO, told Patch.

ā€œWhen a pet parent walks into VEG Columbia hospital, they will immediately feel they have finally found a place that will provide their family and pet the best emergency veterinary experience that exists,ā€ Bessler said. ā€œUpon entering VEG Columbia hospital, pet parents will feel a sigh of relief and comfort as they are greeted with a friendly smile, empathetic attitude and luxury comforts for them and their pet.ā€

When a pet parent calls VEG, they speak immediately with a licensed veterinarian to get their medical questions answered to determine if their pet is in need or urgent or emergency care, including dental emergencies.

Triage begins as soon as the pet and parent walk in the door, even before filling out paperwork, Bessler said. The hospital also has an open floor plan that allows pet parents to have freedom of movement and to see life-saving heroics up close.

VEG has revolutionized the pet emergency experience with a customer-centered approach, rapid response times, no wait times, an open floor plan and allowing pet parents to stay with their pets through the various phases of treatment including overnights," Bessler said.

The animal hospital also gives back to the community with benefits for underserved pets in crisis and by granting scholarships to veterinary medicine students.

"Emergency care is all we do, so we do it best. VEG is a mission focused company and helps people and their pets when they need it most. The team at VEG Columbia is thrilled to service the families and pets of Howard County with the latest equipment and technology to tackle care and emergencies all under one roof," Bessler said.
