2 School Supply Drives Happening Across Howard County

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Two school supply drives have been planned for August to help gather items students need as they head back to school.

The Howard County Public School System has partnered with its education foundation, Bright Minds, and Prepare for Success to host the two school supply drives.

The first drive will take place Aug. 14 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Uno’s Pizzeria, located at Long Gate Shopping Center, 4470 Long Gate Pkwy. in Ellicott City). Community members can bring needed school supplies and leave them on an HCPSS yellow school bus parked at the shopping plaza.

Bright Minds and PFS volunteers will sort, organize and pack backpacks with supplies, then share them with schools and Howard County children who need them.

PFS also will be collecting donations of school supplies through Aug. 16. Supplies can be dropped off at several locations in Howard County:

• All Columbia Village Association offices
• All Columbia Association facilities
• Columbia Athletic Club
• Columbia Gym
• Supreme Sports Club
• Columbia Sports Park
• Long Reach Tennis Club
• Columbia Art Center
• CA Main Office
• Gary Arthur Center
• Roger Carter Center
• North Laurel Community Center

Anyone who would rather provide a tax deductible monetary donation can learn how to do so at Prepare for Success and/or Bright Minds.
