3 Robbery Cases Overnight At HoCo Businesses

Three robbery cases reported in Columbia, Savage and Laurel may be connected, police say.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD - Three robbery cases in Howard County were reported in a matter of hours between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, and authorities say they are investigating whether they may be related.

Two 7-Eleven stores and one Exxon were the targets of the robberies.

The 7-Eleven in the 9600 block of Washington Boulevard in Savage was robbed at 2:28 a.m. on Thursday. During a transaction at the register, police said a man reached over the counter and took cash. The suspect was described as a thin black man between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall who was wearing a black hat, black t-shirt, black sneakers, white socks and dark shorts.

At the Exxon in the 7500 block of Montpelier Road in Laurel, police said a man hopped the counter and took cash from the register at 12:19 a.m. on Thursday. He was described as a black man who was 5 feet 6 inches tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball hat, red t-shirt, black shorts, black sneakers and white socks.

The 7-Eleven in the 5700 block of Columbia Road was robbed at 11:34 p.m. on Wednesday. Police said that a man jumped the counter and tried to steal cash but left when he found he was unable to do so. The suspect was described as a black man who was 6 feet 1 inch tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a gray t-shirt with a blue t-shirt underneath and brown shorts.

"Police are investigating if the...three cases may be connected," the department said in a statement Thursday.
