4 Arrested for DUI at Sobriety Checkpoint: Police
The Howard County Police Department released results of weekend DUI checkpoint.

A sobriety checkpoint in Laurel yielded four arrests overnight, according to the Howard County Police Department.
County police and state troopers staffed the checkpoint on northbound US 1/Washington Boulevard at Davis Avenue from late Friday, Aug. 21, to the early hours of Saturday, Aug. 22, the department reported.
There were 1,034 vehicles that passed through, according to the report.

Four drivers were arrested for driving under the influence, including one who was also charged with a drug violation, police said.
Checkpoints are funded in part by a grant from the Maryland Highway Safety Office, which reports one in every three people killed in crashes in the state involves an impaired drunk driver.

In addition to police, Mothers Against Drunk Driving representatives were on hand distributing information about driving under the influence.
The Howard County Police Department reports that its officers arrested 994 drivers for driving under the influence in 2014.
