800 Students, Staff In Quarantine Because Of COVID: HCPSS

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Howard County Public School System said 800 students and staff members are quarantining because they had a positive COVID-19 test or were in close contact with someone who tested positive.

This includes 762 students and 38 staff members as of Tuesday, the district said. The number of positive cases from Monday, Oct. 25 to Wednesday, Oct. 27 is 23.

The school district releases these numbers weekly. According to the school district, these reported numbers reflect positive test results that have been self-reported to HCPSS. The data reflects the date HCPSS was notified of the positive case and not necessarily the date of the positive test result.There are more than 57,000 students enrolled at HCPSS and an estimated 5,000 staff members.

As of Oct. 27, there are 11,544 active cases of COVID-19 in Howard County.
