BREAKING: The Maryland Department of the Environment has issued an air quality alert for Tuesday, April 11.

BALTIMORE, MD — Certain people should avoid strenuous exercise and outdoor activities Tuesday due to the air quality, according to the Maryland Department of the Environment.

Environmental officials have issued a code orange air quality alert for the Baltimore metropolitan area on Tuesday, April 11, including Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties.

A code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations may become unhealthy for sensitive groups such as children, asthmatics, older adults and those with lung or heart diseases.
