• Theft Reported At Columbia Ice Rink (patch.com) — Residents who frequent the Columbia Ice Rink should know police are investigating a May 31 break-in, when thieves entered through a door around 3 a.m. and stole food. The rink on Thunder Hill Road, a popular spot for public skating and hockey programs, typically operates from August through June and offers daily sessions and lessons.    

• Howard County temporarily halts data center development (thebanner.com) — Howard County has paused new data center development through November 2027, a move that directly affects future projects tied to Columbia’s Gateway district and an existing Columbia data center. A new expert task force will study environmental, infrastructure, and economic impacts and recommend where and how data centers should be allowed. Residents will have chances to weigh in during public hearings.
