The store is unique. It began as Lee’s personal collection - a collection she has spent over 30 years building, sourcing fabrics from all over the world. The store offers over 3,000 fabrics and 1,000 trims, many of them valuable, rare or difficult to find elsewhere.

Fin Fabrics is open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Whether someone is a fashion student, designer, sewing enthusiast, or simply enjoys crafty projects, Fin Fabrics is a welcoming place for anyone interested in textiles and design.

Lee Andersen commented, “After over 35 years of designing and collecting fabrics from all over the world, I am retiring and sharing my yummy collection with the public. I’m excited to see what other creative people do with my collection of fabrics and trims.New designers are also invited to come and play in my studio. I am one thousand mistakes ahead of them, and hopefully I can share some quick, clean solutions to their construction challenges.”

Classes available in the Fall through Howard Community College will be listed in their Enrichment Program later this month. Maryland Fashion Institute also offers a 'TRY IT OUT' program for High School Graduates for $1500 for 15 days over the summer. There are more serious opportunities through MDfin's RUNWAY TO BUSINESS program for students wanted to launch their own label and show at New York Fashion Week.

Fin Fabrics is located inside DoodleHATCH Interactive Art Museum in Long Reach Village Center, 8775 Cloudleap Ct, Columbia, MD 21044. Visit the MDfin website at mdfin.org, where you’ll also find a page for the fabric store. Contact Lee directly at lee@MDfin.org. Phone 301-725-5555
