JESSUP, MD — William Nelson II, a 26-year-old paraeducator formerly employed by the Howard County Public Schools, was sentenced Monday to time served after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a student, according to reports.
Nelson, of Elkridge, was also ordered to five years of probation and required to register as a Tier II sex offender.
The sentencing decision came after Assistant State’s Attorney Maria Stamidis had asked the courts to sentence Nelson to 10 years in prison with all but three years suspended, The Banner reported.
Nelson had already served nearly nine months in prison.
