Columbia Charged For Killing Gosling In Northern Virginia: Police

Police said the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 11, in Fairfax City, Virginia.

FAIRFAX, VA — A Columbia man has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly chasing and killing a gosling in Fairfax, Virginia, last month, according to the City of Fairfax Police Department.

Police said the incident occurred near 11201 Fairfax Blvd. around 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11.

An investigation by the department's Animal Control Unit determined that the suspect got out of his vehicle and chased a family of geese before intentionally killing one of the goslings, police said. The suspect then fled the area.

Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Ashton Stennett.

On Tuesday, July 7, Stennett was issued a summons charging him with one count of animal cruelty. A court date is pending.
