Suspect Released From Jail Robs Gas Station, Threatens Employee With Pipe: Police

JESSUP, MD — A store employee reported a robber threatened him with a metal pipe while allegedly stealing merchandise.

The incident happened Thursday around 10 p.m. at the Exxon located at 7900 block of Washington Boulevard.

The store employee told Howard County police officers that when he confronted the man he suspected of stealing merchandise, the suspect threatened him with a metal pipe then took off, the police department reported.

Police found the suspect nearby and arrested him. Jamin Boateng, 30, of Laurel, has been charged with armed robbery, assault and theft.

Boeteg also was arrested July 13 after police say he went into the Howard County Public School Applications and Research Lab, which is under construction. That incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Howard County police officers were called to the research lab, which is located in the 10920 block of Clarksville Pike in Ellicott City, for a report of a male suspect inside the building.

Officers found Boateng in the lab and arrested him, according to police. He has been charged with burglary and trespassing. Court records show Boateng was released on his own recognizance and has a trial date for that incident on Sept. 17.
