HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Know a citizen soldier deserving of a community honor? Nominations are being accepted now through Sept. 2 for a citizen soldier to serve as grand marshal of the Howard County Veterans Day Parade this fall.
The honorary grand marshal of the parade will recognize a citizen soldier, described as a service member who was or is currently serving in the National Guard or the Reserves and exemplifies the 2026 parade theme: Citizen Soldiers - the Cornerstone of our Republic.
The theme honors the 250th anniversary of the founding of America and the U.S. military tradition of citizen soldiers who serve both as community members and service members.
Grand marshal nominations must be submitted by Sept. 2 for the parade, which will be Nov. 8. Nominate someone online here.
