(patch.com) — Howard County firefighters handled three significant Labor Day weekend fires, including two separate house fires in Columbia that displaced several families and required Red Cross assistance. Crews also contained a barn fire in Highland, where one firefighter suffered a minor injury, and investigators ruled all three blazes accidental, citing discarded smoking materials and a suspected electrical malfunction.
• 2 Teens Charged In Armed Robbery In Columbia (patch.com) — Columbia residents are learning more about an armed robbery on Daystar Court where two teen boys were reportedly held at gunpoint and robbed of cash and sneakers. Howard County Police say officers quickly located and arrested two suspects, ages 14 and 15, who now face robbery, assault, theft, and weapons charges.
