Road Crossings, Path Connectors Planned For Columbia Neighborhood

COLUMBIA, MD — Residents are encouraged to attend a public meeting Oct. 15 to discuss two transportation projects planned for the Hickory Ridge area.

The Hickory Ridge Road Pathway project happens to be in the design phase right now, but calls for:

• Improved shared use path connections between Martin Road and Broken Land Parkway and between the existing Columbia Association pathway and Broken Land Parkway.
• Pedestrian crossings of the west and south legs of Hickory Ridge Road at the Broken Land Parkway intersection, including pedestrian signalization.
• Pedestrian crossings for the north, south and west legs of the Martin Road/Hickory Ridge Road intersection, including pedestrian signalization.

The Cedar Lane Pedestrian & Bicycle Facilities feasibility study examines the creation of pedestrian and bicycle facilities along Cedar Lane. The study area includes Cedar Lane from Owen Brown Road to MD-32, continuing along Sanner Road to Creekside Road.

The meeting will start at 5 p.m. at The Hawthorn Center, which is located at 6175 Sunny Spring in Columbia.
