WOODBINE, MD — A firefighter was injured while battling a blaze early Monday morning that broke out at a Woodbine barn.
The barn fire erupted around 6:55 a.m. at a property located in the 16000 block of Ed Warfield Road. Firefighters arrived to find the barn fully engulfed in flames, so they began fighting the fire from the outside inward. The barn partially collapsed while crews were attempting to extinguish the fire, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
Firefighters from Montgomery, Carroll and Frederick counties were called in to help HCDFRS firefighters. It took around 50 minutes for crews to bring the fire under control. The fire was fully extinguished by 8:45 a.m., the fire department stated.
One firefighter was taken to a medical facility for treatment. No civilian or animal injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire continues to be investigated by the Howard County Office of the Fire Marshal. Investigators do not believe the fire was intentionally set or to be suspicious in nature.
