HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Polls have officially closed across Maryland and results are trickling in for Tuesday's midterm election, including the offices of Howard County executive, county sheriff and County Council members.
As of 9:30 p.m., Vanessa Atterbeary holds 84.7% of the votes for county executive, while Nater Kane has 13.8% of the votes.
As of 9:31 p.m., Mark E. Covington holds 93.9% of the votes for one of two seats for the Howard County Board of Education, followed by Lanlan Xu with 36%.
There also were two measures on the ballot voters considered at the poll.
Question 3, Maryland's redistricting ballot question, was a key amendment that was repeatedly challenged by Republican lawmakers before it was cleared as a last minute addition to the ballot. Race results will be reported throughout the evening. Some contests may be decided quickly, while others could take longer to call. Local boards must certify election results by Nov. 13. Statewide results are to be certified by Dec. 9.
