During her remarks, Sharon Benus noted that the Company, founded in 2001, has seen significant growth over the last decade, bringing a large number of jobs to the community while successfully establishing itself as a nationally recognized social science research firm.
“Ten years ago our company was a small firm with less than five employees. Today, we employ more than 200 and we continue to grow steadily every year, here in our Columbia HQ and in our downtown DC office. Having made our mark on Columbia figuratively, today, we are now literally making a mark on the city with this new signage,” said Benus.
IMPAQ’s CEO added that the Company operates at the nexus of policy development and its real-world implementation. As a result, a significant number of IMPAQ employees have advanced degrees in areas ranging from economics, education and public policy, to statistics, business management and information technology.
“This means that we are constantly looking to attract the best talent from the best schools across the country to come work right here in Columbia. So we are proud of the fact that, as we grow our company, we are also growing Columbia and Howard County’s knowledge economy,” she said.
Benus concluded by thanking HCEDA CEO Laura Neuman for attending the event, noting that IMPAQ was fortunate to have partners in the County government who are actively working to build a culture of entrepreneurship that has allowed IMPAQ and other companies to thrive in Howard County.
For her part, Neuman said that she was pleased to have been a part of IMPAQ’s ceremony. “IMPAQ is an important Howard County company and employer and we have watched and enjoyed their growth. The new sign gives IMPAQ the visual prominence it needs to further attract clients and employees, and it marks the start of a changing downtown Columbia landscape.”
Howard County Executive Ken Ulman, who was unable to attend the event, also welcomed the new signage.
“The County is excited about the addition of IMPAQ International’s name to Downtown Columbia’s evolving skyline. Columbia, a dynamic, diverse and growing city is the perfect home for diverse and growing companies like IMPAQ International,” he said.
