Atholton Student Among 150 National Award Recipients
A student at Atholton High School in Columbia has been named a 2019 Coca-Cola Scholar, selected from more than 95,000 applicants.
COLUMBIA, MD— A student from Columbia is among 150 nationwide who have been named 2019 Coca-Cola Scholars. The achievement comes with a $20,000 scholarship.
Yamini Ananth of Atholton High School was invited to attend Scholars Weekend on April 4-7 in Atlanta, where the 150 Coca-Cola Scholars will be honored at a banquet. They will also take part in a leadership training program.
Students chosen to be Coca-Cola Scholars are "exceptional high school students who are dedicated to leadership, service, and action that positively affects others," according to the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.

This year, the 150 finalists from a pool of more than 95,000 applicants.
Students are eligible to apply to become Coca-Cola Scholars if they graduate during the current academic year and plan to attend a post-secondary institution.

The 2019 Scholars will join 6,150 Coca-Cola Scholars alumni named over 30 years. Scholars go on to attend schools such as Harvard, Stanford, Duke, Yale and Princeton. Top career paths for scholars are business and finance, education, healthcare, arts, entertainment, sports and law.
