Battle Of The Books Returns To An In-Person Format In Howard County For 2022

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — This year's Battle of the Books will return to an in-person format and be held outdoors at Merriweather Post Pavilion April 29 at 7 p.m. Battle of the Books in 2020 and 2021 were moved online due to the coronavirus pandemic, but this year almost 300 teams will participate in one location together.

Battle of the Books is an academic competition for fifth grade students from Howard County public and private schools. The event began in 2008 with 66 teams consisting of five students and an adult coach. The teams answer questions about books, which are pulled from a predetermined list provided in advance to the teams.
