Body On Side Of I-95 Found Near Route 216: Police

Police said a man was hit and killed on Interstate 95 in Howard County on Monday, Feb. 11.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A man walking on Interstate 95 in Howard County was hit and killed early Monday, Feb. 11, according to Maryland State Police. Charges are pending against the driver, police reported.

Officers were called to I-95 south at MD 216 before 1 a.m. on Monday for a report of a body lying on the left shoulder of the highway.

Timothy Lewis, 29, of Mount Rainier, was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

Witnesses and the vehicle involved in the collision — a Volkswagen Jetta — stayed at the crash site, officials reported.

Based on the primary investigation, police said that Lewis was trying to cross from the right shoulder to the left side of the highway when he was hit.

"Charges are pending following the completion of the investigation in this case," according to a statement from Maryland State Police.

The investigation is ongoing.
