Book Review: Lost Souls: Found! (rescue dog stories)
A wonderful series of breed-specific stories of rescued dogs. Short short stories.
Lost Souls: Found! Inspiring Stories about Pit Bulls, by Kyla Duffy and Lowrey Mumford (Happy Tails Books, 2012 (PB), 144 pages, $12.95)
This little book, just 144 pages long is long on pit bull rescue stories – 46-plus tales of rescued pit bulls from 11 rescue organizations.
What a Great Idea!

Kyla Duffy and Lowrey Mumford have a unique idea going – that of using real-life rescued pit bulls from several rescues to tell their stories. Duffy and Mumford’s Happy Tails Books was founded in 2009 to encourage adoption and raise money for pet rescue organizations. To date, they have donated more than $45,000 to their partner rescue organizations.

Books in the series include not only pit bulls but also Labs, Sammies, Corgis, Bassets, Northern breeds, Pets with Disabilities, Cockers, Beagles, Bostons, Doxeys, Chi’s, Boxers, GSDs, Danes, Goldens, Herding breeds, Pugs – and I’m sure I have missed some!
Some stories are a paragraph in length but most are 2-4 pages – just the right length to take a break to read about an inspiring dog and his adopted family. From “Passed up Pup” to “’Precious’ Pit” to “Nothing a Cheeseburger Can’t Fix” and including several Pit Stops, those one paragraph shorties, Lost Souls: Found! will entice you to read more than one title in the series.
Caveat: This book was purchased for review but now I want to read several others (the Labs and Goldens, especially). You can find the series on Amazon.com
