Book Review: Was I a Dinosaur?

A thought-provoking children's book about science

Was I a Dinosaur? by Sue Darius (Darius Designs, 2022, 20 pp, $16.71) In ASL on FaceBook!

Each and every one of us is special and unique but consider whether we have lived before, perhaps as a dinosaur? Maybe parts of us have - our atoms have been recycled from dinosaurs and other living things into what makes us today. . . a nice, comforting thought - that we will live on and on and on.

Illustrations Often Make the Book

The most incredible water-colored illustrations by author Sue Darius take us through scientific history from the dinosaurs to present day. Many of them become favorites, like the lovely red fox (pictured) and the fabulous blue dinosaur on the cover.

Dinosaurs can be big and scary things but when they are water-color blue, they become friendly and part of us - our friends.

Maybe a Dinosaur. . . .

Or maybe I was part of a flower or bumblebee and since we are all connected, and maybe you were a dinosaur, too! And perhaps we could have been part of all three - a flower, dinosaur and bee!

This lovely picture book combines faith and science into one big question, easy to follow and to answer, and perhaps something we have not considered before, but a comforting thought.
