McGaw Road Fire Extinguished After Evacuation: Officials

Firefighters were called to a building in Columbia Thursday morning where smoke was showing when they arrived.

COLUMBIA, MD — An attic fire in Columbia resulted in an evacuation and emergency response Thursday morning, officials said. There was light smoke showing when crews arrived at the scene of a business fire, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

The building in the 8800 block of McGaw Road was evacuated, officials said around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27.

Within about 10 minutes, fire and rescue officials said that crews were beginning to extinguish the blaze, which had been located in the attic.
