BWI to Begin Direct Flights to Cuba
Baltimore airport is the only one in the region allowed to fly there.
BWI will begin offering flights to Cuba this September.
Island Travel and Tours is going to provide charter service between BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport and Cuba, according to an announcement from the airport.
Flights will leave from Baltimore Wednesday and Saturday at 9:20 a.m. and arrive in Havana at 12:35 p.m.

The service will begin Sept. 30, according to Island Travel.
Swift Air will operate the flights, which will be on Boeing 737s, WBAL reported.

BWI is one of 19 airports in the U.S. that has gotten permission from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to fly to Cuba, according to the Baltimore Business Journal, which reports the closest geographically are JFK in New York and Pittsburgh International.
