CAC-DST Honors Six Outstanding Women Leaders in Howard County

The Columbia (MD) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (CAC-DST) recently honored six outstanding women leaders in Howard County during its inaugural Women’s Leadership Luncheon held April 18.

“We celebrate our honorees’ passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the Howard County community,” said CAC-DST President Eugenia Woodson. “When women lead with vision, entire communities are transformed.”

CAC-DST lauded the honorees in various areas of the sorority’s five programmatic thrust, and two women received the President’s Award for Community Partnerships and the Woman of Distinction Leadership Award.

They are:

• Jennifer Jones, CEO of the Howard County Economic Development Authority (Economic Development Leadership Award)

• Geraldine “Gerry” Taylor, Founder and Board Chair, Bronze Villagers, Inc. (Educational Development Leadership Award)
• Dr. Njideka Okonjo Udochi, a Global Health Care Leader, Family Physician, and Professor (Physical & Mental Health & International Awareness Leadership Award)
• Mae A. Beale, Owner of an Event Planning Business and longtime Community Volunteer (Political Awareness & Involvement Leadership Award)
• April Lee, Director of Pantry Operations, Columbia Community Care (President’s Award for Community Partnership)
• Dr. Mariana Izraelson, Executive Director, Grassroots Crisis Intervention (Woman of Distinction Leadership Award)

U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks did a phenomenal job serving as the keynote speaker for the event. She urged the attendees to stay the course as they work toward the betterment of society.

“We were extremely blessed to have Senator Alsobrooks, our beloved soror, join us in delivering uplifting words that inspired us all to remain committed to the work of community service,” said Woodson.

Woodson also offered kudos to CAC-DST Third Vice President Ronesha Prioleau and the entire Fundraising Team, along with First Vice President Samantha Phillips-Chester, for all of their hard work in planning, organizing, and executing the event.

“They did a fantastic job,” she said.
