Columbia Orchestra invites young music lovers (and their grown-ups) to don their favorite costumes for a Halloween-themed adventure in sound. The program opens with the sweeping, magical music of the Harry Potter films, followed by Gounod’s Funeral March of a Marionette, a deliciously creepy little march you may recognize as the theme from Alfred Hitchcock’s television show. The concert closes with Prokofiev’s beloved Peter and the Wolf, bringing its cast of characters to life, each one voiced by a different instrument of the orchestra. Come in costume, bring your imagination, and discover just how spooky (and how fun) an orchestra can be.
