Carousel Robbery At Columbia Mall: Police Blotter
Knife-point robbery, deli burglary and more crimes were reported in Columbia, according to the Howard County Police Department.

COLUMBIA, MD - The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
A worker was hospitalized after a robbery and assault near the carousel at The Mall in Columbia. A woman took cash from the register at the Island Carousel at 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 5. When an employee confronted the suspect, she assaulted the employee and took off. The employee was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.
Five people robbed a man at knife-point in the 5700 block of Stevens Forest Road. The suspects took cash in the armed robbery, which happened at 11:46 p.m. on Aug. 4. Four men and one woman were involved. An 18-year-old man from Overheart Lane in Columbia was charged with armed robbery, robbery and drug possession with intent to distribute. Four others were at large.

Industrial Deli in the 9100 block of Red Branch Road was burglarized. Cash was stolen after someone got into the business through a broken window panel. The burglary happened at 11:42 p.m. on Aug. 4.
Synergy FX in the 8800 block of Columbia 100 Parkway was broken into at 4:32 a.m. on Aug. 5. Nothing was reported stolen after someone got inside by breaking a window.

A four-by-four vehicle was taken from a shed at Blandair Park in the 5700 block of Oakland Mills Road at 9:49 p.m. on Aug. 6. The suspect(s) broke a lock to get to the vehicle, which was found a short distance away.
A 1999 Ford Explorer was reported stolen from the 9600 block of Basket Ring Road at 9:34 a.m. on Aug. 6.
