Celebrate Columbia With Painted Adirondack Chairs

Adirondack chair artists are wanted for Columbia's 50th anniversary celebration.

COLUMBIA, MD — Calling all artists who want to celebrate Columbia's 50th birthday.

The Inner Arbor Trust is seeking people who would like to decorate Adirondack chairs for display in Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods for the city's celebration of its golden anniversary. The display will be at the park through the summer.

Artists may decorate and/or carve the chairs, in accordance with the theme "Celebrate the Arts in the Park." Acrylic paints are encouraged.

The chairs may not be changed structurally and have to be fit for people to sit.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 16. The display will include 10 chairs.
