Charges Filed Against Dundalk Man In Teen's Suicide: Police

A Dundalk man faces charges relating to a Westminster teen's suicide, according to police.

DUNDALK, MD — A Dundalk man has been charged with allowing access to an illegal gun by a 15-year-old Westminster boy who used the weapon to take his own life. According to the Baltimore County Police Department, officers were dispatched to a home at 7836 Lockwood Rd. Monday where they found the teen with a gunshot wound to his head. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Officers say that Raymond Byrd, 24, happens to be a friend of the teen's family member and wasn't supposed to have firearms. Byrd told police that his unregistered "ghost gun" was being stored unsecured behind the television in the home's living room. According to police, Byrd said he heard the gun go off in the living room and the teen's gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

The teen was a ninth grader at Westminster High School.
