Chrysalis Dedication Is Coming Up In Columbia

COLUMBIA, MD — The neon sculpture near Merriweather Post Pavilion will be dedicated in the coming week. The pop of color off Little Patuxent Parkway called "The Chrysalis" is a piece of art that functions as a high-performance stage and public park pavilion.

The Chrysalis is the initial installment at Merriweather Park (previously known as Symphony Woods), which is being developed under the management of the nonprofit Inner Arbor Trust to encourage more public use of the space.

The Chrysalis is made of tubular steel knit together to form a structure that houses a pavilion and stage for performances. It broke ground in September 2015.

According to the Inner Arbor Trust, Chrysalis will "form the very heart of Columbia."

The Chrysalis dedication will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, at Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods, 10431 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia, MD 21044. RSVP here on Eventbrite.
