Columbia Association to Celebrate Completion of Lake Kittamaqundi Pathway Loop

Community members are invited to join Columbia Association (CA) President/CEO Milton W. Matthews at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, for a ceremonial ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of the pathway loop around Lake Kittamaqundi.

The ceremony will be held on the northwest side of the lake at a new bridge and boardwalk that brings pedestrians and bicyclists over a wetlands area. The quickest route there from the Downtown Columbia Lakefront is to take the pathway outside of Sushi Sono and walk north. For those who may need assistance to get to the ceremony from the lakefront area, CA also will be providing golf cart shuttles to the site that will leave from near Sushi Sono starting around 12:45 p.m.

This 1.5-mile loop is another reason for people to visit and enjoy Downtown Columbia, including Whole Foods Market and the upcoming opening of the Haven on the Lake mind body wellness retreat. New shops have opened at The Mall in Columbia, and construction continues on the new Metropolitan Downtown Columbia and Little Patuxent Square buildings.

The loop was constructed to CA’s new standard width of 10 feet for its main and well-traveled pathways. The loop pathway will connect to the future phases of the Downtown Columbia Multi-Use Trail that will link the lakefront to the hospital and Blandair Park.
