Columbia Athletic Club Nears Reopening

One part of the gym complex will remain closed for several days, according to the Columbia Association.

The Columbia Athletic Club will reopen on Monday, Aug. 18, following a two-week closure for updates.

Each year, the Columbia Association closes its athletic complexes for renovations, cleaning and upgrades, according to a statement from the association. The Columbia Athletic Club in Harper’s Choice, in the 5400 block of Beaverkill Road, has been closed since Aug. 3.

During the closure, workers were improving duct and HVAC systems in the ceiling above the main level and making repairs to leaky showers in the women’s locker rooms, the statement said.

The gym will be open for use starting at 5:15 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18. However, some areas will be unavailable until that Friday.

A flooring project in the lower-level strength room/weight room is taking more time than anticipated, according to a statement from the Columbia Association.

As a result, those parts of the club will reopen sometime on Friday, Aug. 22, the statement said.

To accommodate users, the “Package Plan Plus room”—normally available for a fee—will be open to all members, according to the statement.
