Columbia Businesses Report High Number Of Metal Thefts

COLUMBIA, MD — The top five areas for high metal theft claims includes Baltimore-Columbia-Towson, although the number of metal theft insurance claims has declined overall from last year, reports the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

NICB analysts reviewed a total of 5,904 insurance claims for metal thefts occurring from Jan. 1, 2017, through Dec. 31, 2018, with 95 percent of them for copper theft. Columbia's demographic area reported 166 thefts during that time frame, the report revealed.
