Columbia Man Charged with Attempted Murder
Police said the suspect in Columbia shooting, stabbing was found in Texas.

COLUMBIA, MD ā The suspect in a December shooting and stabbing in Columbia was found in Texas, the Howard County Police Department reported Tuesday.

Hollis Ray Walton III, 28, of the 9400 block of Kilimanjaro Road, is being held without bail at the Howard County Detention Center in connection with a Dec. 5 assault that landed the victim in shock trauma, police said.

Officials said they identified Walton as the suspect after finding his cell phone in the 6300 block of Windharp Way, where blood and shell casings peppered a driveway and a gun was in nearbyĀ bushes.
Police allege that after shooting and stabbing the victim, Walton fled to Arlington, Texas, where investigators located him staying with a relative.

Right after the Dec. 5 assault, the victim went a neighborās house for help, which prompted police to respond at approximately 6:05 p.m., authorities reported.
The victimāEarl Brinkley Williams, 28, of Baltimoreāwas taken to shock trauma in critical condition and has since been treated and released, police reported.
Walton is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, armed robbery, robbery and using a firearm to commit a felony.
He has a preliminary hearing in Howard County District Court on March 18.
