Columbia Man Dies In Savage Crash: Police

Police said a Columbia man died after hitting a pole on Foundry Street.

SAVAGE, MD — A Columbia man died in a crash Monday night in Savage that police said appeared to have been caused by a medical emergency.

David Vance McCrary, 64, of Columbia, hit a pole on Foundry Street at approximately 9:30 p.m., according to police.

McCrary had been driving a 2005 Chevrolet Blazer west on Baltimore Street when it crossed the center line and hit the pole on Foundry Street, police reported. His vehicle was the only one involved in the crash.

Based on preliminary investigation, authorities said McCrary appeared to have suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of the Blazer.

He was taken to Howard County General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Officials said that Baltimore Street was closed between Foundry Street and Williams Street for three hours.
