Columbia Man in Serious Condition After Crash in Jessup: Police
The 23-year-old hit a parked box truck, Howard County police report.

A Columbia man is in serious condition at shock trauma after a crash in Jessup Thursday night, according to the Howard County Police Department.
Maurice Kenneth Hockaday, 23, of the 5600 block of Stevens Forest Road, failed to negotiate a curve and hit a parked box truck, police reported.
The crash occurred at 10:13 p.m. in the 8200 block of Preston Court, according to the report.

Hockaday, who was the only person in his1994 Acura Integra, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was in serious but stable condition, police reported.
Alcohol did not appear to be a factor, and Hockaday was wearing his seatbelt, the report said.

Excessive speed may have been a factor in the crash, according to police.
Preston Court was closed until approximately 12:30 a.m. Friday for investigation, police said.
