Hundreds have converged in Columbia to protest the death of George Floyd of Minneapolis in police custody.

COLUMBIA, MD — Protesters blanketed downtown Columbia, from the mall to Merriweather, Tuesday afternoon for a demonstration following the deaths of George Floyd in Minneapolis and Tony McDade in Florida.

The demonstration was organized by HoCo For Justice, a youth collective that condemns white supremacy.

Participants gathered off Little Patuxent Parkway near the AMC Columbia parking lot around 4 p.m. and planned to march to the Columbia lakefront. Those marching against police brutality and white supremacy were asked to adhere to social distancing best practices.
