Columbia Purse Snatcher Arrested: Police

Police said a Columbia man has been charged after robbing women with purses in parking lots in Columbia and Elkridge.

COLUMBIA, MD — A 33-year-old Columbia man has been charged in connection with four robberies in the past month, according to police. Officials allege he snatched women's purses in parking lots in Columbia and Elkridge.

The robberies occurred between Sept. 9 and Sept. 19, according to police.

Women reported that a man approached them and stole or tried to steal their purse.

Police said that two robberies happened in the CVS in the 6400 block of Waterloo Road, one was in a parking lot in the 6500 block of Dobbin Road and another was in the Costco parking lot in the 6600 block of Marie Curie Drive.

Investigators identified Addison Nemmers, 33, of Bluecoat Lane in Columbia, as the suspect.

Nemmers faces 16 charges, according to court records:

  • Four counts of theft from $100 to $1,500
  • Four counts of robbery
  • Four counts of second-degree assault
  • Theft from $1,500 to $25,000
  • Theft scheme from $1,500 to $25,000
  • Stealing a credit card
  • Charging $100 to $1,500 on credit cards

Nemmers has been held without bail since Sept. 22.

He is set to appear for a preliminary hearing in Howard County District Court on Oct. 17.
