Columbia Snow: Pics, Measurements

The first snowfall of December in Columbia was captured from several angles, thanks to our readers. See what they shared.

COLUMBIA, MD -- With fresh snow on the ground, Columbians were out taking in the change in scenery over the weekend. When we asked to see your photos, and you delivered. Thanks to those who submitted their pics, including Donald Dey, who shared the photo above of the deer he spotted after the snow.

There were 11 measurements that came in from Howard County, from 1.5 to 5 inches. Accumulations in Columbia totaled up to 3.3 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

At the end of the day, Westminster reported the highest accumulation in the Baltimore-Washington area; 6.5 inches of snow were measured there on Saturday, Dec. 9, according to the weather service. There was also a report of 6.5 inches in Ridge from St. Mary's County in southern Maryland Sunday morning.

Columbia 3.1 inches as of 7 a.m. Sunday
Laurel 3 inches as of 8:30 a.m. Sunday
Savage 3 inches as of 9:10 p.m. Saturday
Jessup 2.8 inches as of 9:30 a.m. Sunday
Columbia 2 inches as of 6:20 p.m. Saturday
Columbia 1.5 inches as of 9:17 p.m. Saturday

"Sledding at Lake Elkhorn" by Heather Hetrick Kuhns:
